John McCain does not know how many houses he owns

Hello? Democrats? Hellloooooo?

Just in case you actually have any desire to win the White House in November, a game-changing gaffe just flew out of John McCain's mouth.

Days after he cracked that being rich in the U.S. meant earning at least $5 million a year, Republican presidential candidate John McCain acknowledged that he wasn't sure how many houses he and his wealthy wife actually own.

"I think — I'll have my staff get to you," McCain responded to a question posed by Politico, according to a story Thursday on the publication's Web site. "It's condominiums where — I'll have them get to you."

Later, the McCain campaign told Politico that McCain and his wife, Cindy, have at least four in three states, Arizona, California and Virginia. Newsweek recently estimated the two owned at least seven properties.
So, even after researching it, the campaign still couldn't say how many homes McCain owns.

Just imagine that if, just days after we learned about his fondness for 520-dollar calfskin Italian loafers, we learned that Barack Obama owns more houses than he can count. Can you imagine what the Republicans would make of that?

How hard can it be to make the case that John McCain cannot possibly relate to plight of working families? The guy can't keep track of how many houses he owns. Compared to McCain, George W. Bush is a real brush-clearing cowboy.

And here's the best part: McCain's own policy proposals prove the case that his presidency would prioritize the rich over working families. The house remark is just an opening to a broader discussion about how hostile his economic policies would be for the middle class.

So if you want to win, Democrats, McCain just gave you a gift.

If you want to win.
