Un. Be. Lievable.
John McCain's speech on the final night of the Republican National Convention will not be the Must-See TV event of the night. The speech, inarguably the climax of the convention, will have a little competition in the form of the NFL season opener between the Superbowl champion New York Giants and the Washington Redskins. How does something like this happen? I mean, why not just wait a few months and schedule the final night of the convention opposite the Superbowl?
How are they going to fix this? Absent getting the NFL to reschedule the season opener, I suppose they could move McCain's acceptance speech up to one of the earlier days. Might make the rest of the convention kind of anticlimactic, though.
I guess convention manager Doug Goodyear should have spent a little less time flacking for the military junta in Burma, and a little more time actually managing the convention. Before he got fired, that is.
