An amazing comeback, no doubt about it. For somebody who was written off as dead six months ago, John McCain's candidacy is a testament to willpower and endurance. It didn't hurt that everybody else in the field was an unelectable misfit, but the McCain campaign's resurrection is still a very impressive story.
That having been said, I just heard David Gregory on MSNBC refer to McCain as "the future of the Republican Party."
Think about that.
The future of the GOP is a 71 year old man. He is two years older than Ronald Reagan was on his first inauguration.
If I'm a Republican, I don't take a great deal of comfort from that.
