Epic Stupidity

Condi Rice on anticipating the challenges in Iraq:

“I thought it would be tough, but I didn’t think it would be this tough.”
Well, how "tough" did she think it would be? As tough as bopping over to Starbucks for a half-caf latte', or as tough as trying to pass a camel through the eye of a needle? Or somewhere in between?

And some people still wonder how the invasion and occupation of Iraq turned into such a disaster.

It turned into a disaster because incompetent people did the wrong thing very badly for all the wrong reasons.

Obviously, it really never occurred to these nincompoops that it would be virtually impossible to destroy a society and then rebuild it from scratch with a system of government that its people never asked for. They really thought that they could make this work.
