The three major cable news networks are covering an entire partisan speech that President Bush is delivering to the American Enterprise Institute. Why?
Bush is saying nothing that he did not say yesterday during his press conference. The only difference is that he is not going to face any questions. He is pontificating to a friendly audience with all of the focus-tested rhetoric and catch phrases with which we have become familiar. He has some information about Afghanistan, but overall, there is nothing new here. Tony Snow could have made the Afghanistan announcement. The rest is just standard boilerplate.
The lessons of 9/11. Support the troops. Young democracy. Freedom. Extremists. Terrorists. So we don't have to fight them here.
They never learn.
