Lieberman officially no longer a Democrat

Joe Lieberman has formally left the Democratic Party. He now officially represents the Connecticut for Lieberman Party in the race for U.S. Senate from Connecticut.

The Connecticut secretary of the state said Tuesday that Lieberman gathered more than the 7,500 signatures needed to participate in the election.

The certification means that Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000 and a presidential candidate in 2004, will run for re-election as part of the Connecticut for Lieberman party against Democrat Ned Lamont and Republican Alan Schlesinger.
Now that Lieberman is literally no longer a member of the Democratic Party, he must be stripped of all committee assignments. He should not be a member of the Democratic caucus now any more than Conrad Burns should be.
