MSNBC's "Abrams Report" is covering President Bush's oh-so-perilous trip to Pakistan. The lower-third graphic reads:
- PRESIDENT BUSH IN PAKISTAN
ON MOST DANGEROUS TRIP OF PRESIDENCY
If the trip was that bloody dangerous, it would be criminal recklessness for Bush to be there. Period. We were told that Bush had to fly around the country all day on 9/11 because the White House was unsafe ground. Are we expected to believe now that he is flying into the teeth of certain death in Pakistan? Has the Secret Service lost its institutional mind? The answer is, of course not. If Bush was in any real danger in Pakistan, he wouldn't be there.
These people know how to play the news media like nobody else I have ever seen. Bush's job approval and personal favorability numbers are in the tank, so the White House takes advantage of a suicide bombing in Pakistan to try to get his numbers up. It's pathetic, but hardly surprising from this crew. What is surprising is the media's eagerness to lap it up and ask for more.
Wow, maybe Bush can capture Osama Bin Laden personally while he's there! That'd be cool!
I think I'm going to throw up.
