The families and friends of an Ohio Marine battalion are suffering combat fatigue on the home front.
Nineteen members of the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines were killed during two bloody days in Iraq this week. Their loved ones and neighbors have had quite enough.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports:
''You never know who it could be. It could be your best friend. It could be your husband -- it could be anyone from here,'' Eleanor Matelski, 69, said as she angrily tore up a paper cup that had held her coffee. With all due respect for, and sensitivity to, these poor, grieving people, this has been ridiculous for a long time. It was ridiculous before the first shot was fired.
''Tell Bush to get our soldiers out of there now before any more of our soldiers die. This is getting to be ridiculous,'' she said.
Nothing good was ever going to come from the waging of this unlawful, unjust, unnecessary and ungodly war.
