The phone rang a few minutes ago. When I answered it, a male voice said, "Hi. We apologize for the wait. One of our telephone representatives will be with you in a moment."
Wow. What rocket scientist came up with that slick move? What telemarketing genius said, "Hey, you know what we should do? We'll call people at home on a Saturday morning, and when they answer, they'll already be on hold!"
And then what middle manager wearing a short-sleeve button down shirt and a clip-on necktie said, "Great idear! People love sitting on hold! We'll make millions!"
