Tom Tomorrow is concerned about the Democrats' tendency to negotiate against themselves and give away the store.
It is worth remembering that the "public option" arose originally as a compromise away from the idea of single-payer health care.
Now, through sheer messaging incompetence and political cowardice, the Democrats have let the public option get characterized as European-style socialized medicine, and are in the process of negotiating it away to a worthless system of state-managed co-ops that would have absolutely no power to put downward pressure on costs.
For what that is worth, they might as well leave the system as it is.
I mean, it's not as though Americans want a public health insurance option to compete with the for-profit insurance industry, is it?
