McCain surrogate Lieberman plays the age card

That's it!

It is open season now on John McCain on the issue of his age.

Joe Lieberman, McCain's foreign policy tutor and prominent campaign surrogate, went there. He played the age card.

Lieberman, appearing on “Meet the Press” with 2004 Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.), said the Arizona Republican’s ad this week featuring pop celebrities Paris Hilton and Britney Spears was “cute” and it raises the question of Obama’s (D-Ill.) readiness to be president.

“This is a good young man,” Lieberman, the 2000 Democratic vice presidential nominee, said. “Is he ready to lead or as ready as John McCain? The answer is no.”
At least he didn't call him "a good boy." That's something.

But Lieberman implied strongly that the 46 47 year-old Obama's youth is a disqualifying factor for the presidency.

Obviously, the McCain campaign's dealing of the age card from the bottom of the deck must now become the main topic of the discussion on all cable news programs for the next 72 hours. I can't wait to hear David Gregory's analysis of this shocking development as his Headline on Race for the White House.

John McCain, do you renounce Joe Lieberman? And all his works? And all his pomps?
