When the history of the 2008 presidential campaign is written, the tale of John McCain's defeat will not be complete without a discussion of the Like Hope, But Different video. As of this writing, nearly half a million people have watched the video on YouTube. It was posted just yesterday.
I don't know if you remember, but back in 2004, Karl Rove telegraphed the strategy that the Bushies planned to use against John Kerry. They said they were going to turn Kerry into "an object of ridicule and calculated derision." They did. It worked (along with some voter disenfanchisement in Ohio).
This has already been accomplished with regard to McCain, and he doesn't even have the nomination yet.
Amazing what you can achieve by just playing a crazy person's own words back to him, isn't it?
