Fourth

I wondered yesterday what it was about Florida that made Rudy Giuliani think he could keep losing primary contests until January 29, rack up a win in the Sunshine state, and then run the table on Super Duper Tuesday, February 5th.

There are only so many losses a candidate can sustain before he starts to look like a loser, and nobody wants to back a loser - with their votes or their money.
Today, Rudy's strategy, if you can call it that, is looking even more doubtful.

A new Datamar poll in Florida finds Mike Huckabee leading the Republican presidential primary race with 24% support, followed by Mitt Romney at 20%, Sen. John McCain at 18% and Rudy Giuliani now back in fourth place at 16%.

Two months ago, Giuliani led the GOP race. With little chance of winning the other early states, he has been campaigning nearly non-stop in Florida for several weeks.
After what happened in New Hampshire last night, it is obviously foolish to assume the polls are infallible in terms of picking a winner, but fourth place is a big hill to climb.

Rudy's goose smells like it is starting to burn.
