Richard Ryan Wargo, the 19 year old LSU student arrested for threatening the life of Sen. Hillary Clinton, has been released from jail.
His attorney says the threats amounted to nothing more than "stupid" remarks, and that Wargo never had any intention of carrying them out.
The release is subject to conditions, including one that requires Wargo to undergo a mental health evaluation and get treatment if recommended by the therapist.Friends of Wargo, who created an online forum specifically to defend him against the allegations, have insisted since his arrest that he is merely a misunderstood prankster who harbored no real intention to harm Clinton.
LSU Police arrested Wargo on Thursday on counts of terrorism, communicating false information of planned arson, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In addition to getting the mental health evaluation, state District Judge Mike Erwin allowed Wargo’s parents to sign their son out of prison after posting a $50,000 cash bond and a $50,000 property bond.
In addition, Wargo must be supervised by Capitol City Probation, submit to random urinalysis and adhere to a 9 p.m. curfew. He also must live with his parents when he is not a full-time student.
The conditions replace the $1 million bond Erwin set Thursday.
