During a press briefing moments ago, Sec. of Defense Robert Gates and Gen. Peter Pace asserted the importance of being precise with regard to administration's allegations against Iran.
A reporter asked Gates why, if precision is so important, was last weekend's briefing conducted by anonymous officials (who, frankly, didn't get it quite right). Gates responded, "I don't know the circumstances of the briefing."
The obvious followup, which nobody asked before CNN cut away, is "you're the Secretary of Defense. Why don't you know the circumstances of the briefing?"
Who is in charge around here?

If you tell anyone I said that, I'll deny it. And if you PROVE I said it, I'll deny denying it.
