The absence of entries the last few days is due to my having been out of town on business, and having been unable to get my laptop to locate a Wi-Fi network anywhere in New York City. I know they have them. The city is lousy with hotspots. My computer just couldn't seem to find one that it liked.
My copy of "How Would a Patriot Act?" caught the eye of a 60ish woman sitting near me at LaGuardia. We spoke for a few minutes, and after I explained who Glenn Greenwald is and what the book is about, she got so excited that she called a friend immediately to tell her about it.
I finished the book somewhere in the air between NYC and Dallas. It's just fantastic. If you haven't read it yet, order a copy today and read it right away. Greenwald clarifies the argument against Bush's lawbreaking in a way that no Bush defender could ever counter. The book could be the prosecution's opening statement at Bush's impeachment trial.
This was a busy trip, so with the exception of a quick read of this mornings Times, I'm quite a bit behind on what's been happening. I know that Rove won't be indicted. There's a piece up on Salon whose headline suggests this is good for Democrats and good for America. I haven't read it yet, but I'll take a look after I unpack.
Also, take a minute to check out Thomas Friedman's evisceration of General Motors. I won't provide a link, since it's behind the wall. But, if you're not a TimesSelect subscriber, you can always do what I did today and read it the old fashioned way.
If you're ever on West 32nd in mid-town Manhattan, be sure to stop in at Kunjip Korean Barbecue. I got into New York around dinner time on Monday, and after checking into my hotel, took off walking to find something to eat. I passed this place that had a line of Koreans out the door and down the sidewalk waiting to get in. I took that to be a strong endorsement. I was right. I had the barbecued shrimp, with sides of kimchee, eggplant, cucumber salad and an apple dish that looked, but did not taste, like potato salad. Two words: yum-mee
Speaking of dinner, it's been a long day and they don't feed you on planes anymore, so...
Talk atcha later.

You should do a couple of posts about baking cookies. ;-) Oatmeal-raisin, to be exact. Or, chocolate with peanut butter chips. Two words: dee-licious.
