Why on earth are the news media celebrating Angelina Jolie?
She ran off with another woman's husband and bore him an illegitimate child. For most people who behave this way, the only TV face time they can get is on "Maury."
The ad says Ms. Jolie will be discussing "Baby Shiloh, Brad and her passionate fight for refugee relief."
On the subject of Brad, I wonder if Anderson will ask her at what point during the filming of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" did she decide that it was perfectly okay to have sex with a married man. After all, she had claimed publicly that she would never do such a thing, since adultery is what broke up her parents' marriage. But then, when she made that declaration, she had probably never seen Brad's heavenly abs up close and personal. I mean, what's a girl to do?
Cooper should be ashamed of himself. Yeah, yeah, I know. This is a big "get." I worked in TV news. I get it. But, why not distinguish yourself by what you're not willing to do for ratings? I read an interesting story once in the intro to a collection of Dr. Seuss stories. Theodore Geisel was offered an enormous amount of cash once to allow some company to use something he wrote in a product ad. He refused. A friend, shocked that he would turn down such an incredible payday, pointed out that he was rejecting an unprecedented sum of money. Geisel responded that he would prefer to be remembered for having turned down more money than any writer had ever been offered, rather than for having accepted it.
Come on, Anderson (and the rest of you): just say "no" to Ms. Jolie and her baby-daddy.

well, i had no idea that you felt that way. i had no idea that you had lingering conservative feelings :) seriously, i hear what you are saying- but hey, brad was the one married and while she could have said no- so could he. the fact that angie is the one on the show and not the two of them is probably why you made this assessment- i hope- but i would ask you why this makes a bit of difference in the first place. their relationship has not had any effect on my marriage whatsoever- and jen seemed to move on pretty fast- so i guess it is up to them to dictate their own lives.
i agree that the media is ridiculous. i have no idea why people's personal lives matter so much to the 1)public and 2)media. i guess that they both go hand in hand to produce money and ratings. bottom line- in the black.
Hi, Betmo.
I consider Brad Pitt to be more culpable than Angelina. You're right. My reaction was to the fact that she is the one in the ad. He is the one who was married when they met, and he bloody well should have known better.
What people do in their private lives is their business, entirely. I just have an instinctive reaction against the "Brangelina" phenomenon because it has its roots in the destruction of a marriage, and I cannot figure out why that is cause for celebration. I suppose my reaction comes from the fact that my own parents' marriage was rent asunder by adultery when I was a kid.
With everything that is going on in this country, in the world, it strikes me as odd that CNN would devote this kind of time to Angelina Jolie's image rehab. And, trust me, that's all this is. Watching them fall all over themselves to be fodder for the P.R. offensive is disgusting. I mean, People magazine and The Insider do what they do, and they make no bones about it. But, CNN? They still make noises, at least, about being a legitimate news organization. Where is their self-respect?
Think of all the Bush adminstration outrages that are being covered only on liberal blogs. Then, think about the spectacle of Anderson Cooper wasting time interviewing Brad Pitt's baby-mama.
I don't even really have a problem with celebrity news, per se. This celebration of an adulterous relationship is just frivolous beyond words.
better to have you ranting about brangelina than focusing on the fact that blogger and google have been having so many 'database' problems lately. i am suspicious enough to think that there is some funny business going on- i personally think that blog and email monitoring is now firmly in place. food for thought.
