In a bit of genuine good news, a multi-national rescue force has freed three Christian peace activists who were being held captive in Iraq. The men were colleagues of Tom Fox, also taken captive, whose dead body was found on a Baghdad street.
The three men rescued Thursday -- two Canadians and a Briton -- were freed in a planned rescue operation by multi-national forces, a British Embassy spokesman said.Thank God.
The spokesman said there were no immediate indications that any of the hostages had been injured during their liberation. All underwent a medical check-up afterwards "only as a precaution," he said.
The three men -- Norman Kember, 74, of London; and James Loney, 41, and Harmeet Singh Sooden, 32, both of Canada -- were kidnapped along with Fox on Nov. 26. They were members of the Christian Peacemakers Teams, a group that is opposed to the war in Iraq and which has criticized the treatment of detainees in U.S. and Iraqi jails.
Of course, this will not please Rush Limbaugh at all. According to El Rushbo, there was a part of him that liked the fact that Fox and his colleagues were kidnapped.
But, you know what? Screw him.

I tried to comment to their blog, but I received this: "Your comment has been saved and will be visible after blog owner approval." Obviously, my thoughts will not be posted... Here's what I wrote this group:
I rejoice today in the release of your workers from captivity, but I cannot help feel discouraged by the comments made by Mr. Pritchard afterwards. After looking up your web site, his comments make perfect sense.
Obviously, Christian values are not your main motivation for the 'so-called' humanitarian stance your organization takes, but rather a political agenda guised in the aura of religious rhetoric. I'm no firm supporter of what is going on in Iraq, but it seems your group stands up for the worst of humanity at the expense of people who are really trying to effect change.
It is a diservice to Tom Fox, who died for your cause, and now the blame for his death is being shifted to the 'Occupation Forces'. I haven't heard one person in your group say that Mr. Fox's death was caused by Islamic radicals, but plenty insinuating that conditions caused by the Occupation led to his MURDER. You're man was tortured and killed, doesn't that affect you people at all?
Similarly, your obvious anti-Israeli agenda shows exactly where your loyalties lay.
