GOP still shanking Harris

Whatever became of the legendary Bush loyalty we used to hear so much about?

Turns out it isn't worth much, especially if your name is Katherine Harris.

The NY Daily News reports the GOP, Bush included, is still aligned against Harris' senate campaign.

Harris' woes go back years. She wanted to run for Senate in 2004, but national Republicans led by Bush political guru Karl Rove convinced her to step aside for a former Bush cabinet member. She did, assuming she would have White House backing in 2006.

But Republicans who fret that she'll drag down the whole ticket - Democrats and independents are expected to flock to the polls to vote against her - repaid her loyalty by working feverishly to find someone, anyone, to run against her.

"The President doesn't want her to run, short of a natural disaster," one top Republican told The Hill newspaper.

The establishment is still trying to sink her. Florida lawyer Tom Rooney, whose family owns the Pittsburgh Steelers, said last week he is being wooed by party bigwigs and is seriously considering challenging Harris.
Where's the love?

Somebody should make her a campaign t-shirt that reads: "I gave George W. Bush the presidency and all I got was this lousy shiv in my back."
