I can't approve of this kind of nonsense when New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin says it any more than when Looneyland Mayor Pat Robertson says it.
"Surely God is mad at America. He sent us hurricane after hurricane after hurricane, and it's destroyed and put stress on this country," Nagin, who is black, said as he and other city leaders marked Martin Luther King Day.Granted, if God is going to get mad, it will be over the crimes of the Bush administration much more so than over liberalism and gay people. But, comments like these don't help anybody. Certainly, they don't comfort the thousands of people who lost their loved ones and livelihoods in the worst natural disaster to strike the United States.
"Surely he doesn't approve of us being in Iraq under false pretenses. But surely he is upset at black America also. We're not taking care of ourselves."
You have a city to rebuild mayor. Get to work. Leave the lunatic prophesying to the lunatic prophets of the American Taliban.
