It is difficult to give a comprehensive analysis of the president's speech on the fly, but it is apparent that Bush is either oblivious or a world class dissembler.
His main thesis, that Iraq is the central front in the War on Terror, ignores the fact that this is due entirely to the American invasion of Iraq. Whether Bush knows this and is trying to obscure the truth, or does not know it and is therefore alarmingly out of touch with reality, the fact remains: Iraq is a mess of his making. He created the environment in which terrorists thrive in Iraq and hone their deadly skills for export to other nations, including the United States.
There is nothing new in this speech.
