Why Bush fiddled around as New Orleans flooded

Many people have been wondering why, as Hurricane Katrina plowed through Louisiana into Mississippi and Alabama, President Bush saw fit to spend his time yukking it up with old people, having birthday cake with John McCain and playing air guitar with some country singer.

It's because he is so humble, you see, that he didn't want to draw any undue attention to himself.

"The great thing about this president is that he doesn't try to use tragedy to gain immediate attention for himself," said Bob Martinez, a former governor of Florida who has endured his share of hurricanes and other disasters. "He talks to those with knowledge, and then he acts."
So that, then, is the "great thing about this president." In case you were wondering.
