The Bush Administration might not be willing to aggressively push Pat Robertson away, but some Evangelical leaders certainly are. Not wanting to be tainted by Bro. Robertson's desire for the murder of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, they have decided on strategy of shake loose, push back & spin away.
From the L.A. Times:
Some in the evangelical movement have said Robertson's influence among evangelicals in the United States had weakened.Of course, this must be taken with a grain of salt. Any pundit (and that is what Robertson is) with an estimated audience between one million and two million people cannot reasonably be described as suffering from "weakened" influence.
"He's an old man and there's a group of old women and old men who watch him," said one leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he said he respected Robertson's past ministry and did not want to alienate Robertson's followers. "The spokespeople for evangelicalism are significantly distanced from him politically and spiritually. The Moral Majority days are long gone. It's a different world."
When did Christians decide that murder and lying are godly? Can somebody tell me that?
