From the AP:
The NHL won't start next season on time if a new collective bargaining agreement hasn't been reached with the players' association.Oh, no! Oh, wait... who cares? There was no hockey this year. Did anybody even notice?
Commissioner Gary Bettman said Wednesday he is committed to playing hockey in the fall, but a deal must be in place before then.
"We will continue to plan for the start of next season with an on-time opening in October, that is where our efforts will be," Bettman said after a four-hour meeting with the league's board of governors. "If we do not have a new collective bargaining agreement, we will not open the season on time.
