Limbaugh detained for illegal drug possession

Oh, boy. There he goes again.

Rush Limbaugh was detained for about three-and-a-half hours Monday at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities said they found a bottle of Viagra in his possession without a prescription.

The 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage was examined by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after his private plane landed at the airport around 2 p.m. from the Dominican Republic, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

ICE officials found in Limbaugh's luggage a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra, a prescription drug that treats erectile disfunction, Miller said.

"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Miller said.

The matter was turned over to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh.
I have said many times to friends that Rush Limbaugh is the only person I know of who came out of rehab a bigger ***hole than he was went in. If you have ever been around a substance abuser, you know what I'm talking about. The reason you go into rehab in the first place is that, for want of a better word, your addiction has turned you into a world-class, toxic ***hole. Your spouse and your kids hate and/or fear you. You have alienated your friends. You're stealing from your parents. If you have managed to hang on to your job, it is only by a fraying thread. Creditors are hounding you, so you're making your kids answer the phone and say you're not home. Your addiction has turned you into a degenerate scumbag, and it's ruining your life. So, you either die, or you go into rehab.

The success stories come out physically and emotionally healthier than they were when they went in. They have addressed the life issues that led them to become addicts in the first place. Personalities don't change, but attitudes and behaviors do. If you are a rehab success story, you are generally a more pleasant person to be around after you get out than you were when you went in.

Rush Limbaugh was not. Anybody who heard his first show after he got out of treatment for oxycontin addiction heard someone whose attitudes about life had hardened. He ranted and raved about not needing to please anbody anymore. He would no longer be ashamed of his desire to destroy liberals, as if he ever had been. He was not the product of successful treatment.

The story so far about the latest incident does not mention perception-altering drugs. The story is that he was caught with unprescribed Viagra. I am not intimately familiar with the details of Limbaugh's plea agreement from a few months ago, but it seems logical that being caught with prescription drugs for which you do not have a prescription would be a violation of any drug-related plea.

Whatever the case, it is clear that the plea was not in Limbaugh's best interest. He is destroying himself. He demonstrates no greater respect for the law than any other junkie. It just so happens that he was caught with Viagra, and not oxycontin. This time. What about next time? Anybody who believes Rush Limbaugh is not still getting high is a moron. Untreated junkies continue to get high until they go to prison or until they die. Anybody in his life who cares about this man will commit him to a residential facility where he will get treatment for his addiction before he ends up behind bars or dead.

Of course, it might very well be too late for that. If he has violated the terms of his agreement, he might be on the way to trial for the previous offense. Or, he might be on the way to prison.

Either way, the man is study in self-destruction, and he needs to be saved from himself.

By the way, what on earth does an unmarried, Christian conservative need with Viagra in the first place? The story quotes him as saying it was for his personal use. How can that be? Aren't all single Christian conservatives saving themselves for marriage?

It doesn't count if it's just with young Dominican boys.

from what i know- he has been married and divorced. go figure. i think we will have to wait for him to kill himself because he won't see jail time. he is too valuable a spokesman for the current regime. unless he can broadcast from a cell.

B,

He's been married and divorced three times! That's what I love about this family-values crowd - the hypocrisy.
