'An Inconvenient Truth' gets the science right

The Associated Press talked with this nation's most prominent climate scientists about Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." Their opinions? Enthusiastic thumbs up.

The former vice president's movie — replete with the prospect of a flooded New York City, an inundated Florida, more and nastier hurricanes, worsening droughts, retreating glaciers and disappearing ice sheets — mostly got the science right, said all 19 climate scientists who had seen the movie or read the book and answered questions from The Associated Press.

The AP contacted more than 100 top climate researchers by e-mail and phone for their opinion. Among those contacted were vocal skeptics of climate change theory. Most scientists had not seen the movie, which is in limited release, or read the book.

But those who have seen it had the same general impression: Gore conveyed the science correctly; the world is getting hotter and it is a manmade catastrophe-in-the-making caused by the burning of fossil fuels.
So, take a note, Richard Lindzen.

You, too, President Bush.

Yeah, the only parts of the science Gore apparently got wrong was that "global warming" is actually a natural trend, the portion of the atmosphere that is CO2 was close to nothing before man came along and is now twice close to nothing, which is still close to nothing, and Gore (and apparently you, too, by your comments) uses fear tactic faleshoods to make your points. Case in point: The site that led me to yours via a comment you made there (http://www.climatecrisis.net/)
has, as it's second still, a photo of boats stranded in what appears to be a desert. Now unless I miss my guess, this is a lake in the former Soviet Union which actually has significantly decreased in size. The use of this photo is clearly intended to convey the thought that if we don't do something about global warming NOW our lakes will dry up, our land will turn to desert and we'll be doomed. Nothing like terrorizing people to motivate them to act, huh? Problem I have with this is that lake didn't dry up due to "global warming". Just like the Colorado River, the lake dried up due to too much water being diverted from it's sources for urban and agricultural use. To sum up, I'll start taking global warming hucksters serious when they stop resorting to easily disproven claims and outright terror tactics to try and make their points.
